David R. Turgeon, Principal and CEO
Growing up, David the youngest of five children, was arm twisted into being the chief negotiator and lobbyist to an “old school” (aka hardnosed and usually unwavering) father. Training that would become invaluable later in life. In middle school, David like most others, filled out a questionnaire asking, “what would you most like to do when you grow up?” Long since put away and forgotten, he discovered he’s doing exactly what he wrote down those many years ago – “Business Analysis and Art”. Though unrelated, he tries to make the sale of a company an art form of sorts. Business Analysis and statistics is not the most glamorous of professions but it has long been his passion. Discovering exactly what a company has to offer and analyzing precisely how well it’s performing is something he derives energy and satisfaction from. David is a Certified Mergers and Acquisitions Advisor (CM&AA) who’s spent his entire career in the private sector working with businesses of all types, industries, sizes and stages. He formed Jillion in 2005 after recognizing a strong need for intermediaries with the background and education to serve small to midsize businesses too advanced for the main street broker, yet too small for Wall street investment bankers.
He has held upper management positions in communications, marketing and financial modeling. David has performed many business development functions such as writing business plans, giving investor presentations, raising startup capital and generating new business opportunities. All of this has served to provide him with an intimate and broad background in business formation, structure and operations. In mergers and acquisitions, he’s an experienced C-level negotiator with a successful track record of sourcing, mediating and closing his own transactions.
Internationally, David led a group of investors in negotiations with some of China’s biggest corporations and highest ranking government officials seeking funding for major energy and infrastructure projects in advance of the Beijing Olympics. This gave him invaluable insight into cross-cultural business transactions and the chance to collaborate with multiple parties from very diverse backgrounds.
